I am looking to upgrade my system to either purchase a Intel Core i7 4790k with a ASRock Z97 Extreme3 LGA 1150 Intel Z97 motherboard. Or to go the other route and purchase a PNY NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770 OC2 4GB GDDR5 graphics card. I am also worried about compatibilty issues if someone could make sure the components I have and may be purchasing are compatible it would be greatly appreciated! I apologize if this isn't specific enough its my first post.

My Current System Specs:

CPU: AMD FX 6350 (Stock Speeds 3.9 Ghz)
GPU: Sapphire AMD Radeon HD 7970
PSU: Thermal-take Smart M 750 Watt Power Supply
Ram: Kingston Hyper X Genesis 8GB (4GBx2) DDR3 1600MHZ
Case: Corsair 300R ATX Mid Tower Case
SSD: OCZ Vertex 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive

Well according to Tom's Hierarchy charts the 7970 (ghz ed) and the 770 are on the same level but the 4790k and 6300 are 2 levels apart so the gpu upgrade isnt really much of an upgrade let alone worth it while the cpu would be

Either way you dont have any incompatibilities

I don't know tons about computers but you might know is clock rate a big game changer in terms of performance I see what your saying about the GPU chart but my GPU only has an 863mhz clock rate is that bad?
