Solution

Total lie, lookup benchmarks please before you give him bad advice, at High 1280 you get somewhat great performance so if you want smooth sailing go for medium. HL2 and GMOD will run optimally fantastic, i ran on a a6 laptop and got good performance on med/high, but ofc that is a dual core cpu using 7520G.

EDIT: also gaming requires minimum of 4 GB, since you have 6 that opens up higher FPS,
Skyrim - AMD A8-4500m, 7640g, 6GB RAM

Recorded full-size with Fraps. Game was set to 1280x720 resolution
Low settings while recording ~ 20-30...

A8-4500M has integrated AMD Radeon HD 7640G.
As per the games listed assassins creed or skyrim... FPS would be 5-15 at max...terrible i would say.
But half-life2 or garrys mod will run just fine...

Low settings while recording ~ 20-30
Low settings not recording ~ 45+
Med settings white recording ~ around 20
Med settings not recording ~ 40+
High settings recording ~ 15-25
High Settings not recording ~ 35+!!!
Skyrim is VERY playable on high settings if draw distances are kept very low and all
anti aliasing and antro filtering are turned OFF.
Can play well. Even above 720p
Fps will drop a lot if the draw distances are on medium or high, but you can tweak them to
see whih combination performs visually and best for you.

that sentence was taken from the video i searched up which have your specs.

Read before u qoute... we are not here to debate...but help out and learn.
As per my previous post, I clearly mentioned that Half-Life2 and Garrys Mod will play just fine.... coz both the games are directx 9 compatible games.
But in case of Skyrim, as u said it is "highly playable" with anti-aliasing and antro-filtering are turned OFF. Half of the people don't even know these technicalities as what these are or why they need to TURN it ON or OFF.
Forget playing in Ultra-High settings... even in high settings u'll get 10-12 FPS, in Medium settings 14-18 FPS and in Low 25-30. Read this...
http://www.notebookcheck.net/The-Elder-Scrolls-V-Skyrim-Benchmarks.66057.0.html
U didn't even mention Assasin's Creed... at max...Assassin's Creed and Assassin's Creed II will run in it with FPS of 25-35 max 40. But no more...
As per ur statement 6 GB Ram will give higher FPS... it only gives higher over-all CPU performance... and "NEGLIGIBLE" OR "SLIGHT" amount of improvement in terms of FPS, which on the other hand are completely dependent on CPU+GPU...
Know first... just dont copy paste things from other websites...

quit fighting! newbbuilder11 is right, i think, on yahoo answers some guy said skyrim would run fine on low or medium settings.

amazon reviews says its great for gaming

On lowest settings at 720p, it's surprising what the 4500m can hit 30fps with. I seem to remember battlefield and crysis 3 as two games that ran fine...

Code:
The game IS playable on high, of course he has to tweak the settings because its a laptop, he is also running on a QUAD core that opens helps it out, now I never opted for debate, its just simply you were giving bad advice with no source, I GAVE him a source with someone who HAS his specs, and it ran beautifully.

Edit: assassins creed2

1366x768
FPS Avg-27-30

Multi Sampling-4x
VSync-On
Environment Quality-4/4
Texture Quality-3/3
Shadow Quality-3/3
Reflection Quality-High
Character Quality-3/3
Post Effects-On

Notice though that vsync is ON l, if you disable that you will get higher performance.
