Getting low FPS on MSI Radeon 7870

Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3570K CPU @ 3.40GHz, 3401 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 4 Logical
RAM 8GB
Motherboard ASRock Z77 Extreme 4

I feel like my computer has been massively underperforming from what I read it should be at only. Recently playing Archeage on the lowest settings I only see 30-40 FPS at best. It tends to underperform on other games where I should be able to run. Any advice as to what I could be doing wrong?

  1. Check your pc is running at it's best - temps, voltages etc. - case clean? everything running cool?

And check you're using the best settings by putting your pc details into eg at http://www.game-debate.com/games/index.php?g_id=3288&game=ArcheAge

According to that test I should have no problem running on ultra
  3. I also had the same problem recently with watchdogs being unplayable, but I read that was just due to Radeon compatibility issues

Download HWInfo and run Sensors. Post the results - usually 3 screenshots on TinyPic or similar.

  5. Hopefully I did this right.
  6. Just to make sure, are you running the latest drivers?

Your CPU is having a a meltdown. It's slightly overclocked - 1.236V but its running at up to 98C. Your cpu fan speed is OK.

Drop the cpu voltage by .03V

Remove your cpu coler and re-eat it -

Remove cooler and fan. Use isopropyl alcohol to remove the old thermal paste from the top of the cpu and bottom of the cooler. Put a pea size drop of new Arctic Solver 5 thermal paste on the cpu. Put the cooler back on and reconnect the fan.

If that doesn't get the temps back down under 45C then you need a better cooler. Post your temps again after re-seating the cooler.
  8. i7's need another cooler beside it's stock one to perform under heavy load. Also do some research on CPU core unlocking.
  9. Your CPU is unstable and shouldn't be running anywhere near those temps. Generally the max it should stay is in the 50-60s, maybe low 70s at most. 90 degrees is way too high and it's probably throttling your system.

  10. Did everything you said, running way cooler now guess I overdid it on the thermal paste, gonna check my FPS now.
  11. Wow showing phenominal improvements, I never knew that could hurt my frame rate so much. Much gratitude to you my friend.
  12. Post cpu temps and fps
