Hello guys.

I'm new here, but anyway, i just got new desktop computer, Fujitsu Siemens, with two Xeon CPU 3.33gHz, Quadro FX 4600 graphic card, and 8 slots of RAM, each by 1GB. Problem starts here: My windows and also BIOS is showing only 6GB of RAM, even that there is 8 of it, so I googled a lot for solution, and in the end I tried for mix the order of RAM cards on slots. Computer then showed me 8GB of ram in BIOS but couldn't boot into the windows (furthest it goes is "Welcome" screen). Then again i change the order of RAM cards in slots, and again it shows 6GB in BIOS but now it won't boot at all. When I start the PC up, it says that some changes has been done, and ERROR Couldnt load system Configuration...Now I'm lost, I dont know what should I do. Any opinions?

Thanks!

Right now I'm trying with restoring Win7 OS, so I'll see where it will go. No, it's 8 sticks, each of them with 1GB, and all of them are the same, identical, but slots are 4 white, 4 black. I assume there must be order of RAM on those slots, but which one?

In that case 2 sticks are bad, yes always install ram in multiple of 2, use 4 in black slots and 2 in white slots, or the other way around. DO NOT use 5 or 7 Sticks, always in multiples of 2.

Redit.- Check one stick at a time and see if it boots, just for testing, that way you will know which ones don't work.

I'm not expert in this but I can't find which one is bad. But if there are some of them bad, why once it showed me in BIOS that there is 8GB of RAM (when I changed the order of sticks)?

I tried that, I pulled out one stick and BIOS showed me that there is 4GB of RAM, I was way too confused, so I put it back in and didn't touch it...for a while :)

No, remove all the sticks and just test one, and see it boots, you gotta do it with every single one, if it boots that stick is fine, remove and try the next one, and repeat with all sticks, if it doesn't boot with one of the sticks you found the damage one. Am I a little clearer now?

I successfully booted up with system restore. But can you tell me how to solve this problem which occurs after I change RAM order?
