8% load and getting 40-46 degrees celcius

Is this temp fine for my cpu? I'm currently using an i5 4690 non overclocked. This seems kinda hot for this kind of load right? I'm browsing Youtube, and I'm getting these temps, it's kinda making me worry. I'm using an cooler master HAF 912 mid tower case, I have no clue if this helps. I even got to the high 53's just browsing Youtube. I have electric fans pointed at my PC and I don't think its helping at all. My computer just had its first crash yesterday (BSOD) and I have no idea why, I'm thinking that it may have overheated or something, but I want to prevent any crashes happening in the future. I just recently built this computer too.

No, speedstep just determines whether your CPU runs at max speeds all the time. If it's disabled then it dynamically adjusts the speed based on how much load it's taking. When gaming it'll ramp up to turbo speeds so it shouldn't affect performance.

I just installed a hyper 212 evo and at 100% load I am sitting 69 degrees celcius using 97 watts. That should be good right? haha huge difference with this installation thanks

69C is far too high, you should be sitting wayyy lower than that even with a stock cooler. The Hyper 212 should be keeping you < 60C easily.

How did you install the cooler? Did you tighten down one screw then the next or did you start them all and slowly tighten all of them down?

slowly star formation. At stock cooler I was getting 85 degrees and higher at that load and voltage usage

There could be something else. Where is your case placed? Are there cables blocking any fans or places where air can get out of the case? Is there any dust inside?

You could try lowering the CPU voltage and see what happens. I've OC'd my CPU and it gets to 60 degrees max with a stock cooler.

No there aren't any cables in the way. My computer is placed on my floor, maybe the exhaust fans don't have enough room to expel out an adequate amount of warm air because its fairly close to a wall. It is also summer, my room is fairly warm, but I do have an electric fan pointed at my pc.

Prime 95, using 115watts(100% load), with the side panel open, I reached temps at 76C max, and it has not reduced the temperatures. I have the electric fan directly blowing into the exposed side panel, and it hasn't made a difference. My pc is at a pretty confined space. With my old stock intel cooler, I was reaching temps around 85+up at this point, I may have installed the hyper 212 evo cooler wrong? I messed up on my first installation, cleaned the paste off the cpu, and the copper contacts on the cooler, but it didnt get completely removed, but it was pretty darn clean. Maybe a very very thin layer of thermal paste resided on the copper contacts. That maybe it?

no .. it will make it worst .. because of how your intake fan set up

said if: your intake in front .. exhaust in back the air flow 1 way .. then your cpu cooler in middle will take advance of the cool air from front

take of side then your air from front might not even get to your cooler and if your exhaust is again the wall
the hot air then be suck back in thru the side if your case open.

this how i set up my comp and make sure the air go where i want and the flow is unobstructed

you need to clean your thermal paste good with isotope alcohol .. dry then put back ... the thin layer is not good

I was just asking him so I could rule out bad airflow.

Alright I will re clean the cooler, and the cpu. I moved the location of the pc, and there is plenty of room for the warm air to escape the pc, yet it hasn't really made any difference. I'm just a little confused as I am getting much better results than I was with the stock cooler, but I guess with this cooler my temps should be dropping more.

Update: So I re cleaned, installed again perfectly, made sure it was perfect, and I am still getting the same temps. Maybe its the thermal compound that I am using? It is the stock cooler master one.
