Will I be able to play The Sims 2 on my Macbook Pro? Unsure about the graphics chip and RAM.

I have the mid-2012 MacBook Pro. Processor and storage wise, I'm sure I'll be fine as it's a ten year old game. I have 4GB of RAM and Intel HD 4000 graphics and I'm not sure if this is good enough. I've Googled it and some sites say it'll be fine, but a few say that 4GB isn't enough and that integrated graphics can't handle it. I don't want to destroy my MacBook trying to play a game the chip can't handle.

I'm also not sure how to play it, as I have the PC copies. My plan was to use Boot Camp and XP, but my MacBook won't install anything pre-Windows 7. Again, I Googled it and found that while most people couldn't play TS2 on 7, some could - either it just installed and ran or they ran it in compatibility mode and patched it etc, but even then it didn't work for everyone. My dad suggested playing through a virtual PC. We have a PC that runs XP (just the computer, no monitor or anything) that he connects to for work and general computer-buff activities. Would it be possible to play on a virtual PC?

It's so frustrating - every time I think I've found the solution, I discover something that won't work. Any help would be great, thanks.
