just finished a build, i used a few old components,2x HDD 320GB at 5400rpm , PSU Ultra x2 750W, but replaced most components.

the new components used are as follows

AMD A8-6600k APU OCed to 4.3
Thermaltake contac30 cooler
MSI A88mx gaming
8GB 2x4 DDR 3 1330...... this might need upgraded again, i was on a time crunch and this was the only DDR3 i could find at the local bestbuy

at this point i was done building my budget gaming rig, but then my wife told me if i wanted to get a good GPU go ahead and get one. so i ordered an R9-280x GPU.

from what i have been reading, the APU will bottleneck with GPU, so i am thinking about switching to a CPU. from alittle research it seems that the athlon x4 760k would be a good choice, i would move to an FX series but i do not want to replace my MOBO as well... i have only had the setup for about a week and my wife would kill me if i went and bought another set of new components.

would the athlon x4 760k be my best bet, or should i consider the A10...? or will me current setup be sufficient for now and just wait to see what future FM2+ CPU's hit the market, if any will...... im wanting a system that will play BF4 on at least high settings with no stuttering,

Solution
Probably not worth upgrading the ram, its only really worth getting the faster ram if you are using the graphics in the APU.

Yeah it will bottleneck some, but doesnt mean you wont get good performance.

Will the 760k bottleneck the 280x?
Also would it be better to upgrade cpu or ram? I didn't do much research on ram before I purchased it, kicking myself now because the price I paid I could have gotten the ripsaw 8gb

Yup the 760k is better than getting an fx. They might be more powerful but u will have to switch ur motherboard too so thats a waste of money. I suggest not getting an APU because you will have the 280x to do the GPU work and you dont need an extra APU. I would'nt get 1600mhz RAM or an upgrade to 1333mhz because 8 gigs is more than enought for current games unless you edit stuff. You should wait till DDR4 comes out because its right around the corner and there is no sense to upgrade to parts that are going to be outdated soon. You might aswell just get an SSD and wait until DDR4 thats what i will do.
