Is it OK that I updated the BIOS with my new CPU?

I just recently built a new computer and I have a few questions.

First off I'm using a ASUS MAXIMUS VI Impact ITX board with an intel i7 4790K. The Asus motherboard is a Z87 chipset so I thought it would be fine installing one of the refresh cpu's of the 4th gen. Computer runs fine with the old Bios but I found out there is actually a more up to date bios for my motherboard (1505). I just jumped right in and downloaded the bios and ASUS' bios updater (Meaning i did not flash the bios via USB). BUT everything seems fine. Is this ok that I did all this while still on this CPU? Asus website says to update before using the new 4th gen intels but I think that was directed towards older CPU's or should I be concerned and completely reformat my computer and then update the bios via flash before I install my os? I just want to make sure that my system is stable through the years. Any helpful feedback is welcome. Thanks!

One more quick thing if anyone knows the answer to this. My computer freezes every now and then but does not go to a blue screen. Is there anyway I can get some sort of error log to find out why my computer is freezing? I'm thinking it has something to do with my ram but I can't pull any error logs without a blue-screen dump. At least I'm not aware of a way to do it.
