For gaming at 1080p will this be enough?

That's what I figured. You can probably squeeze by until you're able to upgrade the processor. You just might have to lower certain settings in game that are CPU-bound.

Off the top of my head...physics, # of effects, post-processing can be more CPU intensive. Also, anything involving a lot of things happening at once. Large multi-player maps, RTS games with a ton of units, etc...

The Video Card is more than capable of maxing out a lot of modern games at 1080p, but the Phenom is starting to show it's age. Do you already own the X4?

If you're buying everything now, bump up to a FX-6300 or 8350, and grab a 900 series motherboard to match.

Alternatively, check out the new, unlocked Intel Pentium G3258 Anniversary Edition. Lots of room to OC, and with a Z97 motherboard, you have the option to eventually upgrade to a new i7, or a 5th gen Broadwell-K, releasing at the end of the year.

Yes I already have the Phenom 2 X4 processor and I will be overclocking it to reduce any bottleneck(s) as much as possible. I am upgrading from my current 'gpu' i.e. ATI Radeon 3000 motherboard graphics. I know that Phenom can't beat a Core i5/i7 but I am hoping that it will be able to give me at least 60+ fps without serious/bad fps dips/issues.
Please correct me if am mistaken.

The 955B.E generates more heat and is equiv. to a fx6300 which runs cooler than the former. So, you should definitely buy the 6300.
Don't buy the VS series, get the CX series instead or you can buy a better XFX PRO 550W.

There would be bottleneck based on the games you are playing. A fx6300 can handle a 280 by far but the bottlenecking would depend upon the games you would be playing. Would recommend you to get a 270x instead or wait for 'TONGA' to arrive.
