Question regarding RAM slots and how much RAM my PC supports

i have dell's inspiron 530s desktop
installed nvidia GT Geforce 610 2GB DDR3 and
DDR2 RAM (2x1gb)2gb ram
so there are 4slots in my PC for RAM 2white 2black can i put different sized RAM in different slots for example in white two sticks of 1GB and in black two sticks of 2GB
how much RAM and what limit frequency of RAM my PC supports
i wanted to know because i want to put 6gb ram

Try to match the 2nd pair of sticks as close as possible to the 1st set. Speed, timing, voltage. Dual channel systems are picky. But it should be fine.
Memory capacity will be governed by the motherboard. But 6 GB should be do-able on any LGA 775 motherboard.
