Hello

I recently reset windows 8 on my Vaio Fit via the Vaio Care app - I previously created recovery media (USB) also through the Vaio Care app (i.e. I din't use the dedicated Windows facilities for doing any of this as I thought I'd better use the Sony stuff...)

Before doing this I had four partitions: one OEM, one EFI (no idea what that is), one recovery (around 1.4GB), and one main C: drive.

After the reset, I have six (!!): the same four, plus two EXTRA recovery partitions: one 450MB, one is 35.15GB!!

I've updated to Windows 8.1 which I heard can add one (but only one) recovery partition - I think that is where the 450MB partition comes from. But the 35.15GB I'm not sure - I think it might be from the creation of the recovery media, as that process took up about that space on the USB.

Anyone have any ideas? Obviously I'd really like to delete the 35GB partition as that is a whole big chunk of storage... Can I safely do that?

Thanks

Hmmm. Yea not sure on that one. I would say it should be safe to delete the two new partitions. Probably something it created in the restore process? If you delete them and windows doesn't startup doing a Start Recovery should fix it no problem.

You can always give those new partitions drive letters and see whats on them if anything.

OK thanks. I think what I may do is just leave for now and deal with it if and when I need that space. Even though I hate the idea of all those GBs being taken up!

In any case, if I did look at the files on those partitions, how would I know what to look for? I.e. what would confirm/deny that the partition is safe to delete?
