Hi everyone,

I've just finished my first ever custom build and have a few questions.Feel free to answer any of them.

1)The only SATA power cable I had available for my SSD was this mostrosity with like 4 adapters,so I installed my SSD facing the 'front' side of the case instead of the usual way to avoid routing things out through the back - is this okay?

2)I have a Define R4 case, near the HDD bays there's are these little cone things pertruding out,I really dont know what they are but one of mine came cracked to I pulled out a little bit of it.I dont have a camera to take a picture of it but can someone tell me what they are?

3)When I open my C: drive there's a 'program files' folder and then a 'program files (x86) - is this normal?

4)Since this is my first build I made some mistakes pulling cables around which inevitaby led to minor scratches here and there inside the case.they're barely noticeable but if things like this and the cone thing ever start to bother me is there anywhere I can take the case to get is professionally restored?I've seen a few Linus videos where he takes his cases to places to do all sorts of modifiations/restorations,and I really like this case.

Thanks

Specs:

Win 7 Professional

1) Yes, as long as your SSD isn't hanging loose and bumping around or anything, it will be fine. As said above, as long as the case isn't pressing against the cables, you're good!

2) Can you take a picture using your phone or something similar? Without owning a Define R4 I can't help without a picture, these seem like somewhere to put fans to blow onto the hard drives, but again without a picture I'm unsure.

3) Yes this is normal on a 64bit OS. The x86 folder of the folders is the 64bit programs and regular programs folder is for 32bit programs.

4) You can probably get these fixed somewhere, but it's not going to be worth it, and I wouldn't worry about it, a few scratches never hurt anyone and it's going to get scratched sooner or...
1) as long as the case is not putting pressure on the data/power connectors then yes that is ok, shame to have such nice parts and do such a lazy job putting it together though.

2) Let me get back to you, i have the r4 as well, usually the cone pieces are for fans but I think it was something different in that case.

3) Yes that is normal on any 64 bit operating system. The program files folder is for the 64 bit programs and the (x86) folder is for the 32 bit. If you go deeper into windows folders you will see not only the usuall system32 but syswow64 as well.

4) I dont know much of anything about this. It is metal so it should be able to be restripped and powerder coated, in all reality though, any refinishing would cost more then the $80 you can get it for when on sale.

Hope this helped!

Thanks man,

I should probably clarify the SSD thing.I had all my other components a week before the SSD came so I did the cable management for eveything nice and neet.If I were to try to get the huge cable through the cab. management hole now I would have to take everything apart.I tied it up at the front and since its the only thing not routed through the back it actually looks okay.I was just asking since I dont want any air flow issues.

Also, since you have the same case do you know if isopropyl alcohol and microfibre is good enough to clean all the handprints off i without doing any damage?

Thanks,This is my first 64 bit OS so I'm kinda lost on these things.
I'll post a picture tomorrow when there's better lighting.
Yeah the scratched don't bother me,I've only noticed one or two very light ones that you can only see at an angle, and there's probably going to be more.
The tiny piece that came off the cone thing is kinda annoying though,I just wanna find out what it is so I can see if it still works.I guess I'm just going OCD over little things on my new stuff, should wear off soon enough:)

Just use some LCD cleaner type spray and the microfiber.

More often then not the microfiber is good enough.

My R4 case is for my home server so very rarley ever need to put my hands on it, unlike my desktop that is getting usb drives and hard drives pluged into it all the time (desktop is a rosewill blackhawk with built in hard drive dock on top).
