PC building help

Hi Ive been looking into building a gaming pc and I think everything I've decided on should be compatible but I've already come to this site so many times for other questions I figured I would ask if this would work

Case: corsair 300r
CPU: i7 4790k
HSF: enermax twister CPU cooler
RAM: 4x4gb gskill ripjaws
MOBO: ASUS z97-A
GPU: xfx r9 290x
PSU: Corsair 850w (not sure if this is enough)
HDD: Crucial mx100 512GB ssd
OS: widows 7 pro (8 sucks)

850W is more than enough but what corsair PSU are you looking for? Their cheaper models are rubbish. And you really only need 8gb of RAM, but otherwise good build.

Looks fine. 850W should be enough for one GPU, switch it out for like a 1200W if you do decide to add a second. I'd change the 4x4GB of ram to 2X8GB.

@byza I lied I was actually looking at the xfx PRO850w core edition and I was also concerned about the hsf not fitting in the case I've heard that it's really big

The XFX is a good PSU. I don't know about the CPU cooler, i've never heard of it, but the 300R takes coolers up to 170mm tall. If it is this, than yes it will fit

You might have issues with the fan on the cooler fitting over the ram. You'll either have to raise the fan so it sits higher, or get low profile RAM such as Kingston HyperX, Corsair Vengeance LP or G.Skill Ares. Or just pop off the heat spreaders on the Ripjaws.
