I'm currently looking to purchase the R9 280x GPU, but I'm not sure if my PC can handle it, I know I need a PSU but can everything else remain the same? Any help would be much appreciated. I'm looking to play games on on high-ultra settings for beautiful look, such as Skyrim, Dragon Age: Inquisition, The Witcher 3 (Currently trying to play Witcher 2). Pretty much high demanding games.

So you think the processor and motherboard can handle the R9 280x if i upped my PSU?

the 280x will outperform your mobo/cpu combo
but yes it will "handle it"

the psu needs to be upgraded if you dont plan on doing crossfire in the future just go with a 80+ 500-600w no need for stupid over kill like most people want/recommend efficiency is killed doing that

ive seen a 7970 ran on an 450w power supplies tho its not recommended lol

Well PSU is the most important. But A10 will probably bottleneck it. Not that much, but it will sometimes. Your Mobo should be fine. But let's wait for someone else's opinion.

Thank you for the quick response. I kind of figured that it would need to be replaced. Are you referring to "bottlenecking" when you say outperform my cpu and mobo combo? And what could happen with the R9 280x on my current build? I know I need a new CPU, MOBO, and PSU. I was trying to figure out in what order I could purchase these and be able to use them asap. So based on your response I could buy the PSU and GPU, then at some point upgrade the CPU and Mobo, does that seem doable? I'd hate to just have upgrades sitting on the side waiting for more money lol.

bottlenecking means it will slow down its maximum performance cause it cant keep the pace its not the best but it wont bottleneck it to hell. i would recommend the evga 750w overkill but modualr, gold, and 10 year warranty. i would upgrade the psu and gpu (most expensive) or cpu and mobo(less expensive). cpu and mobo i5 4690k,hyper evo 212 or h80i and fatality z97 killer mobo. psu evga 750w or other reptuable brand and r9 280x or r9 270 crossfire

Solution
as long as you're on a 60hz 1080p monitor i doubt you need to worry too much about that a10 being too much of a bottleneck.

but i'm with the others, the psu needs to go. the first suggestion was excellent too... a 650W xfx core edition would do the trick.

yeah but i feel the evga one is a better choice not saying xfx is bad (top tier psu) but the evga just seems like a better value fully modular, gold rating and a unbeatable 10 YR WARRANTY. that warranty shows a lot.
