i have a fm2 socket on my motherboard will an fm1 cooler fit properly

    Yes, all the AMD retention brackets are the same (AM2,2+, 3, 3+, FM1, 2, 2+)

  3. If you can turn it so the long overhang is towards the rear of the case, you should be OK. The specs tab has the measurements in metric. Get a metric tape or ruler and measure.

  8. the Thermalright AXP-100 is much better accommodated to amd and it fits without covering ram on a smaller mobo but thanks anyways
