Hello,

I have done a clear install of Win8.1 Pro and gone into.
Control Panel\Programs\Programs and Features

When I click on 'Turn Windows features on or off'.
I see what is in the picture below.

My question is - is the .NET frameworks already installed on my machine (automatically from updates) according to the screenshot or do I have to tick every box in the picture and then install it manually from a command or something. Or do I have to download them all on a Microsoft webpage? Thanks!

the features in the box are already in your OS. When you tick then they are just configured and activated.

and if should be in your windows update if any else is needed like servicepacks updates what ever .. bill should have you covered on that. but you can manually install older .nets if somtyhing seems not to be covered as vista did not have all that xp did and 7 did not have all that vista did each new windows just come with what they think you need and not all you need .. also like direct x don't know about windows 8 or8.1 but I allways get the dx9 runtime cause the dx9 is not a complete file of that and some older programs may have issues due to this [opinion]

one more thing --- I also found that with this 7 that certain dll's were not included in it that were in xp and vista and had to do some copy and paste jobs on that issue
