Hello everyone,

After many problems with my PC over the last 3 days, yet another one arises. This time, even though my PC is in working condition, I can only use 2 gb of ram. I have 1+1 gb GEIL and 2 gb Kingmax. For some reason(using 4gb's) my PC will only POST if I remove the CMOS battery. After that I will get one POST but at the next restart my screen will stay black, with no sound,no post, nothing. IF I remove the 2 gb's of RAM from kingmax, my pc works fine.

What could be the cause of this and what can I do to use the other 2 gb as well. On my old motherboard all the ram sticks were working just fine so they are not fried or anything. Looks like they are just not compatible. Opinions?

the 2gb stick from kingmax is at 800Mhz. the other two sticks from geil are at 1066 mhz. My motherboard supports a max of 800 Mhz anyway so they should work together since the GEIL rams by default downgrade to 800 mhz. And they worked like this for 3 years now until I had to buy this new motherboard.

Also an update: tested every single ram stick, one by one, one slot at a time. Rams are good, slots are good.

Does the timing have anything to do with this? Because one stick is at 6-6-6-18 and the other two are at 5-5-5-15.
