I have made a movie using movie maker in windows 7 and saved it on my memory stick. I would like to play it and edit it on my laptop which is windows 8.1 but none of the photos appear on the slides when I load it on to my laptop. Any advice would be most welcome.

Well, although the size will vary.. depending on the size and resolution of your photos.. I think I am safe in saying there NO WAY you can fit 605 photos of any useful size/resolution in a 655kb file size..
So I think my hypothesis is correct.. you need go back to Movie Maker and read the instructions.

I don't use it myself..go back to the project on your old machine...
at a guess - you save the project .. and not the data..
so you have save the project with all the links to the picture.. but not the pictures themselves..
If you look at the size of the file on your mem stick.. does it look big enough to have lots of photis in it?

Well, as you've probably guessed, I'm not very tech savvy so I have no idea what size I should be expecting. The file is 655KB but I don't know how big a picture should be. There are about 605 photos in the movie. But how should I have saved the project then in order to save the links to the pictures as well? I thought I had imported the photos into the project.

I don't use it myself..go back to the project on your old machine.. and save project but to save your video go to
"home" tab.. select the "save movie" dropdown and then select the format you want..
That should save it as a movie file .. which will have your photos in it.
You can then play it where you like.. but cant edit it.. to edit - you need go back to your machine which has the photos on it..

You can move it.. but as you say - you not techie - so I am not even going to attempt to talk you through it.
Hope you understand (there is nothing more frustrating than trying talk a non techie through a tech item via mail)

Lol. Thank you very much. I think I'm good now. Basically, I shall do all the editing at work on that machine and forget trying to bring it home with me except to view it. Thanks for your help, though. It is very much appreciated.
