Hello, first time on this site and forum. Wanted to share my experience with everyone and perhaps get some help. I am on my second Z97 motherboard. Had no major issues with the first one until I installed my ATI Raddeon R9 295X2 graphics card and at the same time the ThunderBolt EX II card that comes with the motherboard (ASUS Z97 Deluxe). Upon powering up I immediately did not have video and the system would not boot, continuously going to error 55.
Tried everything. removing the cards one at a time, removing other components, Clearing the CMOS, Re-flashing the BIOS, booting up from older bios, etc etc.
Called ASUS and they could not really help advising me to return the card to the merchant and get a replacement. Which is what I did at a 20% restocking fee.
Received the replacement three days ago. Everything was working great. Installed the RADDEON and no issues. It was not until I installed the Thunderbolt card that comes with the motherboard that the system did the same thing. can not boot up and hangs on 55 error.
I know that is reflective of memory but there is absolutely nothing wrong with the memory.
Both motherboards worked fine until the Thunderbolt EX II card was installed. Again called asus and am RMAing this one. Needless to say I will not be installing the Thurnderbolt card on the board. If you've had the same issues and came up with a resolution please share. If not, and are building a similar set up, watch out for and avoid the Thunderbolt add on card that comes with this motherboard.
thx
