I just built a pc yesterday and I am running an intel i5-4690k with an H100i. I was going to overclock to 4.5, but decided to check the temps on corsair link. The case is a large case keep in mind(650d), and the temps of the CPU on idle were around 40-45C. In game this only rose to as high as 55C, but for the cooler to be running on performance mode and getting this high of temps stock, there must be something wrong. This is the temps on idlehttp://gyazo.com/af1bebd87385e13a0c45e1cd6daed899. Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks

Hi, I just arrived home, wasn't using my pc obviously, came in here and saw your post. Checked over my temps with "CPUID HWMonitor" and they were 27-31C idle. I use a 4670 + H100i. Your cooler probably isn't in full area contact with your cpu, not to mention that the pressure might be a bit loose. By the way my set up is the heatsink above fans on top of a HAF XM, stock H100i fans, airflow from insides to outside.

55C is ok, but for a cooler that huge it should be at least 40C or lower.

I'd also use the CoreTemp program to make 100% sure corsair link is telling the truth.

If the temps are right, then I'd get some thermal paste and reapply a new set of paste.

Also, are your radiator fans running good?

Make sure that the radiator fans have enough air to pull through (If running the radiator as an exhaust)
Make sure that you are getting good contact between the water block and the CPU

Are you running your fans in push, pull, or push/pull?

Fans are running in push.

If you have space for fans on the side panel I recommend mounting fans there because it can feed the radiator fans with air much better.
Also if you have any exhaust fans close to the radiator fans try unplugging them and check the temps. Any exhaust fans close to the radiator fans could be hogging some air
If you are using the thermal paste that Corsair pre-applied onto your H100i you shouldn't have any problems there.

Are the fans running at 100%?

Make sure your radiator is clear of dust*

I do not have any space as it is a windowed side panel

You can try to make the room colder
The thing about water cooling, it is a very effective way to cool CPUs, but the CPU temp will change with the outside temperature almost 1:1. If the room temp drops 5 degrees, your CPU temp will drop 5 degrees.

I am in my basement, so it is a relatively cool area. My friend reccomended a pc monitoring software called speccy and the readout looks much better, http://gyazo.com/71a8f1a22a1042875948b74363a7e697 But I don't know if it is the most trustworthy piece of software. I am going to go ahead and order a thermal paste and re seat it. Any reccomendations on thermal paste/or how I can get a better contact with the water block?

I recommend Arctic Silver 5
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

What you can do is put a dot of paste on the center of the block, and use a plastic bag (or something to protect your finger) to spread the paste all over the block. Make sure it is an even coat
Don't use a paper towel or anything with fibers in it because you don't want fabric in your paste :p
