Hello,

I am thinking to buy :
1. Rosewill THOR V2 Gaming ATX Full Tower Computer Case

2. ASUS Rampage IV Black Edition LGA 2011 Intel X79 (or Asus WS)

3. EVGA 03G-P4-2884-KR GeForce GTX 780 Ti Superclocked 3GB 384-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 SLI Support w/EVGA ACX Cooler
(or Dual Classified? i was also considering very strongly Radeon 290X, but the price gap is getting smaller and smaller, and Nvidia runs less hot and has better drivers).

4. EVGA SuperNOVA 1000 P2 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified 1000W (it has excellent reviews, so I am kind of determined about this one)

5. Intel Core i7-4930K Ivy Bridge-E 6-Core 3.4GHz LGA 2011 (i do not wish anything less faster than this processor because of my work)

6. SAMSUNG 840 Pro Series MZ-7PD256BW 2.5" 256GB

7. G.SKILL Ripjaws Z Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 (according go their website for the 16BG memory, those are the only ones who are compatible with Rampage Black)

8. CORSAIR Hydro Series H100i ( i was considering Noctua, it is less noisy, but noctua is too big and the motherboard will not fit or the memory)

I will work and play games on it.
I read a lot about the parts I chose, and I am 99% they are all compatible with each other, but If I am wrong please tell me.
If anyone has any better set up for the money range as those parts, I am open to suggestions.

I am also aware that after maybe September the GeForce 800 series might come out, but the silicon manufacturer isn't ready for the 20nm as of stated on February, so even if Maxwell comes out, it is most likely to be 28nm. And I prefer to check stats first before purchasing something completely new, I can wait until next summer and for now I want to have a really good video card.

Thanks :)

While the GTX 780 Ti is currently the most powerful single GPU on the market today, you don't really need it to play games on Ultra. The R9 290 or GTX 780 is plenty powerful enough. But if you want it, go for it. I suggest you look up benchmark tests for games that you want to play to see if the GTX 780 Ti will actually make a difference.

Also, it isn't so much more powerful that it will be much more future proof than the R9 290 or GTX 780.

X79 platform, not cheap but still great choice (you can get similar performance with x97 platform but hey it's your money). Cpu best for heavy multithreaded programs.

I recommend you buy a non reference r9 290 as it costs way cheaper and performs close to the 780 ti. And if you decide to crossfire you'll spend another 400ish dollar, so total gpu cost is 900 max. Compared to dual 780 tis for around 1300 usd. That gpu option is best if you tend to upgrade your gpu (for example, 4k gaming which is getting more mainstream, I dont think you'll never plan to upgrade again I mean just look at that psu) oh and dont forget the 290s have more vram. If you however happen to buy an amd card please buy custom cooled ones like sapphire tri x or msi gaming series or his iceqx2 series.

I dont think you'll need a 840 pro, a 840 evo will please you really as you will not notice any performance difference between both. Evo option is one of the best choice for its great price performance, it's a lot cheaper alright.

My opinion is based by 'best for your money' and 'futureproof, upgradable' concept. Great gaming rig you have there but you could cut down some budget. I've had a r9 290 and it performs the same to a titan (look at kitguru r9 290 tri-x review) at least on gaming.
Each option has pros and cons, the amd one eats more power than nvidia's. The nvidia one is more expensive and less futureproof(3gb of ram) but looks fancy lol.
Hope it helps

thank you all for your suggestions, I really appreciate it. I might have chosen a big PSU im not sure I will crossfire in the future, so I might change and buy the 850W gold, again from Evga.

I need the 840 Pro and the 6 core processor, and I need them for my work and it will do some heavy multitasking and designing, so those are a must for work not just gaming.

as for the graphic card, thank you stunningvisualneeds for your suggestion, I was looking at sapphire if I was to go with the 290X or just 290, but I think I will not buy 2 cards in the future (not sure either that I will not, lol) and I will upgrade my video card every one or two years depends what I want to play and my designing.

My PC will be an investment and pleasure, so I will spend some extra money on it :)

@stunningvisualneeds: A bit of correction. A R9 290 or a R9 290X is on par with a GTX 780. A GTX 780 Ti is noticeably faster than a R9 290 and R9 290X. Also, the Samsung 840 Pro is significantly faster than the Samsung 840 EVO.

@liliath92: Depends on what your work entails, it can affect your graphics card decision. If you need CUDA, then nvidia is the way to go. If you want OpenCL, then AMD is better. In terms of gaming, I personally like nvidia more due to vsync which makes gameplay appear smoother even if the fps is a bit lower.

@ksham, this is what i saw at some videos, especially the dual classified 780 ti, was significantly faster than any other card. It was only beaten by Kingpin edition.

I don't do complicated or specialized design that I have to choose between cuda or OpenCL, both type of cards will do for my type work, but I do need a very fast pc while working that will last long time. So since im on the budget, why not buy 780ti to enjoy a couple of games on ultra. :)

the only thing im still skeptical is the motherboard, Im not sure if I need the Asus WS or should I go with the Rampage black because I will overclock my PC.
