So I am building a custom laptop and building the same one on various sites to price check. Originpc, for the exact same specs as Sager/ibuypower, costs $500 more. (1514 vs. 1990).

How do they justify this? Just because of the cooler back panel of the laptop? All the components are the same brand so I don't understand the rationale for costing 33% more. Is there something I am missing or people are actually willing to pay such a premium for that?

Its a laptop, build quality, cooling, the battery, how its put together (is the RAM soldered on or is it a slot?), how many 2.5" bays...
When it comes to mobile devices, factors like that influence the price more than the hardware a lot of the time.

I have no idea about OriginPC's laptops or why their more expensive, but there is a bunch of ways it could be a reasonable expense.

One thing that is really pushing me from ibuypower is that for their RAM, 8GB for example, only option is 1x8GB but I want 2x4GB because I was told that is the better option and allowed for more throughput
edit: looks like cyberpowerpc is the same, at least for the laptops I see.

yeah so that effectively eliminates ibuypower and cyberpowerpc. which leaves xoptic.

because i do not want to pay another 100 dollars for 16gb of ram to get the 2x8. i also understand 8gb is more than enough for a gaming laptop

well I told my parents I found one for 1600, when I was set on the Sager. They offered to pay for it. So I'd like to stay around there just to not take advantage of them.

It's used primarily for gaming. I want to play WoW on ultra settings at least, and new/future games at high settings as well. Future proof this bad boy if I can.

You can use any store sure, except origin I guess lol

So far my front runners are Sager 8268-S and 8278-S. This gigabyte is next. That's really all I've got after looking around

the only thing i dont like about that asus model is the huge thing on the back which makes the laptop look beastly, i also want to try to have nvidia 870 w/ 6gb of vram and HD at 7200 rpm
