OLD SYSTEM:
Intel DZ77GA-70K mobo
Intel i7 3770k cpu
EVGA gtx 660 gpu
Rosewill 650W psu (non modular, 5 years old)
Corsair 2x4GM DDR3 RAM
Win 7 pro 64
1. bought and installed (yes, properly) corsair 750w power supply, smelled burning and pc didn't start. Put in old psu, same issue. Took out gpu, pc spun but no video output from onboard. Started RMA damage claim with corsair as I figured my board was fried. I use my pc for remote work so....
2. In mean time, purchased and installed BRAND NEW mobo, psu, cpu:
gigabyte UD5H mobo
intel i5 4670k
rosewill
Pc runs fine without gpu in. Put gpu in, whole pc does not get power.
3. Puchased BRAND NEW gtx 660 gpu, installed same day. SAME ISSUE. Tried different pci slot/power cable. double checked all connections. Issue remains. Take gpu out, pc runs fine on onboard video.
So basically, the only thing that I have not replaced with BRAND NEW parts is the DDR3 RAM. However, this seemed like a gpu/mobo/psu issue to me and have never known RAM to cause this type of symptom.
CURRENT SYSTEM:
-GIGABYTE Z97X UD5H mobo
-Intel i5 4670k cpu
-Rosewill Capstone 750W gold psu
-EVGA gtx 660 gpu (have 2 cards on hand atm, one about 2 months old the other brand new, same issue with both)
-Corsair 2x4GB DDR3 RAM (only part I have not switched out)
I am about to go purchase some new RAM, but need some other points of view on the matter, thanks!
