Debating on how I should cool my CPU. Closed or custom?

So right now I have an average closed loop 120mm water cooler.I'll admit, I've always wanted to buy one of those custom kits. But closed loop one are so much more convenient and easy on maintenance. Are top of the line closed loop water coolers just as good as a custom kit? Help me understand more about water cooling.

Top of the line water coolers are not as good as good custom loops, but they're much cheaper, and much easier to maintain.

Also custom loops costs in the regions of 300 dollars if you want to watercool everything, so stick with closed loops as you can watercool your cpu and gpu that way, the two components that need it most

Very few AIOs are expandable for the gpu as well (they wouldn't be closed loops if they're expandable like that). You only have a couple of them like the swiftech h220 or the h320.
