Wrong HDD-size when setting-up RAID10

Why am I getting a wrong readout on the size of my HDD when making a RAID10? 801,56G instead of 3TB... So the array gives 1,6TB instead of the expected 6TB.
I have proceeded to Computer Management in Windows, and it does read 1,6TB...
Anybody has an idea? Plz help.

Info:
W7 on SD-SSD 64GB
4xWD Red 3TB
MoBo: M5A 78L-M USB3 -- RAM: 2x8GB Corsair

Thx.
I'll wait for more answers to get a more conclusive idea of what might be wrong...
It's strange to have that much space allocated for backup... 2 Teras? 2/3 of the Disk?
But, thanks for your quick answer.

Should not be that.. RAID 10 is a straight Raid 0 with a RAID 1
So will lose half space - so as he says if using 4 x 3TB .. he should get 6 TB

(Though see my reply to other dup post re concerns on using red disks)

I am now 'initializing' the array in Windows, using AMD's RAIDXpert.
It recognizes 6TB's - so that is good. My intention was, however, to make the array in the BIOS and not within the OS... so that is not to my satisfaction :na:
RAID should be assembled from the BIOS, right?
Anyways, my problem is solved, by assembling the array from within the OS - let's hope I don't get more problems with this down the road...

If anyone has a solution the my problem, while assembling the array from the BIOS and getting the right 6TB out of it, I'd still like to know!! :D

Hey, fzabkar.
The link you posted has many entries to interesting forums with posts on the 2TB limit.
I'm still stuck with my issue on whether it's possible to overcome the problem of setting up the RAID in BIOS, recognizing more than 800G / HDD.
I'm not comfortable about updating the motherboard BIOS...

Thks

I'll look into the BIOS-update issue before I begin transferring any data to the RAID.

How do I know if 'the data wraps at the 32-bit LBA point' ??

Thx again for your interest and help.
:wahoo:
