Get a decent FM2+ board with 8+2 phase power and a 760K and go to town! They overclock like a banshee. FM2+ boards have a more modern chipset than any AM3+ board. I have a bunch of AM3+ processors and 990FX boards. I want to...

the i5 is out, any intel for that matter. I know they are good CPU's but i am a loyal AMD customer always have been. I dont talk down intel. And as for the AM3+ socket i can't seem to find a solid answer as to if its gonna be sticking around and if i'll be able to upgrade with it in the future. My next Mobo is gonna be what i use for a long while. And the Mobo upgrade wont be for a good 6 months or so from now. So see it has to be FM2/FM2+ or nothing just to be blunt. Also the 750k and 760k the IGPU is factory deactivated due to defects. so it is all CPU at that point or am i mistaken in that sense?

no if AM3 is gonna allow me to upgrade in the future i will have no problem jumping to AM3 when i do upgrade motherboard. just dont wanna go that route at this time if i don't need to. Sorry i didn't mean to sound rude in that last reply.

Without new mobo all other options are sidegrades, you already have probably the best cpu for that slot that will ever be released.

Well unless amd creates some sort of miracle.

Your only choice currently is overclocking.

AN A6 is the best for the FM2+? No thats wrong. A10 APU's are better but they are APU's lol. thats why I asked about 2 "APU"/CPU with factory deactivated IGPU's are you only reading half of what i write man??

A 6800k IS an a10. Not that it matters.

And like I explained, the 6800k is already the fastest "cpu" you can get in that slot.

Deactivate the built in gpu and overclock it, it will be just as good as the other choices.

You mean you have a A6-6400. You are confusing people. The A10-5800K is a 750K and the A10-6800K is the 760K. The 750K and 760K just have the igpu disabled.

If you are sticking with FM2 then the A10 6800k/Athlon x4 760k are the best you will get. FM2+ will allow Steamroller and future Excavator APUs.

While I cannot find fault with the abilities of the above (they do the job and are priced competitively) I naturally tend to suggest the AM3+ way with a nice FX 6300 or 8320/8350 coupled with a good graphics card. Why? They are better performers than the FM series, and since you are an AMD only man, the next big upgrade for you will have to wait for at least 2 years, since this is when AMD has slated their return to performance CPUs/APUs/whatever the hell it will be.

Another option, keep your money in a seperate account and keep adding to it, and use your current CPU/APU along with a decent graphics card upgrade to last you out until the new AMD architecture. By then, you should have a nice warchest built up, and with some small sacrifices to graphical fidelity, that system should run the distance.

ok my specs do say A6 6800k lol and i did mean the A6 6400k is what i have lmao. no wonder why it was so confusing lol. thank you guys for finally pointing that typo out. And from the last couple guys said, i will get that 760k. the A6 "6400k" is ok. and as for overclocking, this mobo sucks for it. At 4.0ghz and above it is to unstable to even watch youtube. Again i Apologoze for they typo with my current processor I will change that. Also i really do appreciate everyones input. Sorry about the confusion.

So for the guy who said i had the best processor for my socket, yea you could not have been farther from the truth.

I added the Athlon X4 760k quadcore 3.8Ghz and guys it makes the A6 6400k look like a single core .2Ghz POS lol

The 760K is a good processor. At $89 it is a steal. They overclock great too. I have the A10-5800K which is basically the 750K and it does what I need it to. Glad it worked out for you.
