I am thinking of replacing a 24 gb M.2 ssd in my Lenove y410p and getting a 120 gb version, but I have no idea how to get rid of the cache feature, and then clone my hard drive and make the ssd the primary boot drive. Could someone please help me?

Hi there!

I know it's been a while you have posted this, but my answer may still be useful to you or someone else out there :-)

I just did replace the 24GB M.2 on a Lenovo Y410p with this 128GB one and everything worked like a breeze.

Previously I had a 240GB Plextor SSD as my main boot drive and the stock 1TB hard drive for storage. After getting the 128GB M.2 drive, I opened the laptop and replaced the stock 24GB with it. I then used EaseUS to clone my SSD into the drive (the partitions were shrunk, since I am fitting a 240GB into a 128GB, be careful when doing this, you might loose partitions or data!).

After the cloning process was done, I opened the laptop again and removed my 240GB SSD. On the first try, it did boot it after the bios was asking which device I wanted to boot it from. This happened due to the fact that I didn't set the boot order in the BIOS, so just press F12 on the initialization and go to boot options and set the drive there as your first option.

In my case the drive was recognized by the BIOS perfectly and I had no problems cloning it. I really recommend this setup for anyone that has a Lenovo y410p (510p), it loads the OS really really fast and leaves you with the bay free for a bigger HDD (since you don't have to have a regular SSD in there and use a caddy for your HDD, for example).

Cheers.
