I bought the Radeon R7 260X. My computer specs as i remember them off the top of my head at that time were
CPU- Intel i2 Q6600 Quad Core 2.4
Power Supply- Blue Star 650W Sata fan ATX power supply
Mobo- I dont remember exact specs on it but it had a LAG775 socket
GPU- Radeon R7 260X
OS-Windows 7 64 bit
This is all i can remember

Anyway I got my new Radeon r7 260X video card and I was all excited, so i got it put in my computer and I turn on my computer and BLAMO, no video running to the monitor. I procede to trial and error EVERYTHING in my computer until i finally discover that my Processor is what went bad. So now im running a lower end Nvidia Geforce 8600 GT with a new motherboard and a dual core processor.
I want to know if i can safely put that video card into my computer without it breaking again. I know a lot of the things in my computer are either very old and outdated or very cheap (My PSU). So i want to know what you guys think!

Really 400w for 260x is enough. Since you don't know your mobos specs you could try turning it off and seeing if the card snugly fits. You might see some bottleneck with that CPU though. It won't be a huge bneck but a bneck nonetheless.

Do you think putting in that new video card could take some of the pressure off of my CPU? This CPU during gaming is put at like 80% and i really dont want it to overheat until i have the money to get a new mobo and CPU.

I ended up upgrading to a more dependable PSU to try it out and i got it working on a Rocket Fish 500W 80 plus certified PSU. I nver tried it on the off brand 650W cuz i didnt want to break anything haha. Though seeing it work off a 500W, it probably can run off the 650
