ok so my parents are building a new house and its pretty big.
were going to need multiple modems/routers in order to read the whole house at a decent speed.
were going to have a main modem which I will refer to as router 1
were going to have a switch going to my room (to connect to tv,pc,other pc etc)
and hopefully a second modem to which ill refer to as router 2.

im assuming since you can connect to a switch using a normal Ethernet cable that you can connect to another router using an Ethernet cable. so my question is this.
if I connect router 2 to router 1 via Ethernet cable. will it act as a whole new router? like will the members in the household have to manually connect router 1 or 2 based on the best signal or will they both just read under the same name and it will connect to the stronger modem automatically.

You only need one modem and can use a single router, but may add several access points (some routers can perform this function as well). These can all broadcast the same SSID and security info.

Yes, you can use standard Cat5 (or higher) cabling to connect your wired devices. A switch will do nicely in such a configuration. Nothing fancy (expensive) is needed for the switch.

How big is the house going to be (square feet)? How many floors? Will the modem and router be centrally located or at one end of the house?
