Intel i5 4440 or AMD FX 8350/8320 - What should I get for a temporary build?

I'm upgrading from my Athlon x4 760k for a newer CPU that can run most games on High/Ultra as well as run photoshop and after effects with ease.

This is a temporary upgrade as I'll be giving away my PC in about a year or so.

Would I be better off with the 8350/20 for current gen/next gen gaming paired with my R9 270?

(Note: Fanboys who will just rage at me for even listing AMD don't even bother posting, I'm sick fucking fed up of people raging at me because I prefer AMD over intel)

Thank you very much

I use a moderately OCed FX 6300 and Im pretty happy with encoding times , mostly using handbrake

I havent done any rendering but there are benchmarks in the links I published in the last post . Rendering is faster with the i5's using after effects anyway

The 8320 and 8350 are identical parts . OCing one to 8350 speeds works . It should be much faster than the athlon anywhere a prgram can use all 8 cores
A number of photoshop modules are single or poorly threaded so the intel would have the edge

For gaming it wont make any difference between the intel and AMD at 1080p resolutions .
Id probably buy an 8320 and OC to 8350 speeds . Paired with a 970 chipset board it will be cheaper than the intel

My Athlon runs Photoshop fine it's just after effects struggles when rendering. Will the 8320 resolve this if I overclock it?

I would go with the i5 for its power efficiency. They're both relatively equal in terms of performance. But you do know that there is an i5-4460 right? I'd suggest that you get that as it should cost the same, but is part of the Haswell refresh batch, so it is compatible with Z97. The Z87 chipset is dead.

I really don't give much of a crap about power efficiency, it's an overused tactic to get people to switch to Intel.

The 4460 I considered but never really cared about, it was £30 more out of the shop I buy my parts from and I just didn't bother.

The cost difference in running an FX and an i5 is around $10 - 15 a YEAR .

I'll just go with the 8320 and save myself £40, can use that to buy myself a decent CPU Cooler :)

Thank you very much :)

That is EXACTLY my point, why the hell should I care about power efficiency? Why is it even listed?
