Would it be a good idea to swap an r9 290x tri-x for an EVGA gtx 780 ti?

Hi all. I'm about to build my new rig and all of the components have been ordered, they should be at my home by monday or tuesday. I'm going to run an i7 4790k, a mximus gene VII and an r9 290x tri-x oc, or so I thought.

The thing is, lately, I've been reading a ton of review, comments and benchmarks, and the 780 ti seems to be doing much better than the r9 290x tri-x, which, at first wansn't so obvious to me. I got the r9 for $547 and would be able to get the evga 780 ti for about 660 or 680 bucks.

The question would be: Would it be worth it sending back my r9 and swapping it for a 780 ti? I'm planning on SLIing or crossfiring later this year. Is it going to be worth swapping these two considering the price difference? And last but not least, I'll be building in a corsair 350d which isn't a huge case, would you guys recomend going through the hassle of sending the r9 back and getting the 780 ti?

Oh, and by the way, is there a way to send items back to amazon to swap them for others? Thanks for the help and, if oyu have any kind of sugestion for my build, I'm all ears :).

Thanks!!!

I presume you will be running 3 monitors, 4k, 144hz or similar otherwise both cards are an overkill, and sli/crossfire doubly so. In that case make sure the benchmarks you look at are for these extreme resolutions where 4gb vram helps. However of course at 1080 the 780ti is better, its >20%more expensive. But it's only slightly better. As you get near the top end, there's diminishing returns for your money.
