screen recording help

hi i have a windows 8 computer and i want to screen record my game play but it wont let me and i want to know what a good recorder app is that is free thanks

I use OBS and its for free https://obsproject.com/ You have to run games on windowed mode though, if you want to be able to see whats happening in the recording. If you don't put it on windowed and record with the game on full screen then all you'll see in the recording is a balck screen. You could try to use its game recorder feature which says you can record fullscreen with it, but I just do desktop record so...

A lot of people would recommend FRAPS, which is decent and easy enough to use. OBS is one I recommend because it is 100% free and has a ton of options you can tweak. It can be a bit much at first, but once you find the settings that work for your system and game, then it works good.
