Is the GTX 780 worth it for someone coming from a GT 630?
The GT 630 can play games on medium settings and some on low. Or should I get the 770 instead?
I play at 1080p. I'd like to get games on Ultra with at least some kind of Anti Aliasing

Solution
to be honest the R9 290 is the best value for money card you can get right now, compared to the 780 and 770 and many others. With a price tag often less then a 780, and many times it comes out as better, what's to argue?

Even for now, it isn't considered overkill due to the more graphical intensive games coming out and are out.

Things to consider; Yours easily has the power and beef but for others considering the same thing.

PSU - Good enough to handle and has the required specs

CPU - Powerful enough to not bottleneck

Motherboard - Has an X16/X8 slot in either Gen 1/2/3, which all should have anyways.

Also - Watch Dogs experience is far better on Nvidia cards, I find playing on my R9 290X @ 1080p ultra and max AA and 2160p ultra...

What about games for the future? Is a 4gb 770 good for them, or the 3gb 780 better?

What about games releasing later on? Technically the 780 would give better performance right?

Technically the 780 is better but look at that price tag. yikes. You are better off getting a 290 than a 780.

If the choice was 780 3GB or 770 4GB. definitely 780. But that price.

Hmm well the 780 is nice it is built for 2k gaming, the 770 is also but excells much better at 1k (1080p) gaming. also note the GTX 770 is a GTX 680 rebranded and over clocked.
On board vram is nice but if you have 2gb at 1080p you will rarely ever have an issue and if you do you really wont notice atleast i never have.
Also you should consider the R9 280x and R9 290 as well as they are in the same league as the 770 and the 780 and reduced prices.

hope that helps.

Our advice: buy a 280x 3GB OR 290 4GB, if you can spend more than get 290 4GB. Also, the price of the 290 has fallen and it is going to become the go to card in my opinion for those that want to max out all games at 1080p especially Watch Dogs.

(US prices)
Sapphire Dual-X 280x : $270
Gigabyte Windforce 290: $340
Asus DirectCU II 770: $310

Getting a 770 isn't a good value but that Gigabyte one is! It has tons of VRAM and will max out all 1080p games for the next year too.
