I am looking to start making videos on youtube. I already have fraps but I need a good video editor for free or cheap, because Sony Vegas is very expensive for me. My channel will be mostly Let's Plays so I don't need to do any hardcore editing, really all I want is to be able to render the video to at least 720p, and then maybe I might need to make some cuts to split the video into parts but that's it. I don't expect a top of the line editor for free, but I really just need something to render the videos with.

i know a free one might be hard to use at first but if your just doing simple editing it will do fine and you will get the hang of it.

download this : 3mb - http://portableapps.com/apps/music_video/virtualdub_por...
also this : http://sourceforge.net/projects/x264vfw/files/latest/do...

ill give you a quick guide on how to use it.

once you have downloaded and opened virtualdub go to file-- > open video and open your recorded video.
to edit parts of video you select certain parts of your video with two icons that look like flags that are the last two icons to the right on the bottom of the screen (the left flag icon is where you start your selection and the right flag icon is where you end the selection)\. once you have selected the part of the video you can press the delete key to delete the part.

to resize the video: go to video --> filter --> add __> resize : change aspect ratio to disabled. set the pixel height to 1280x720 for 720p

to compress video : go to video --> compression --> select x264vfw

click file -> save as avi
