Playing game, after a few minutes black screen computer restarts

Been playing Battlefield 4 since it came out, stopped play for a few months...

Booted it up yesterday, can play for 5 minutes, fans run loud, computer goes black and turns off. Mind you my side panel on my CPU is off..

So today I stuck a fan next to it and played without a problem.

Speedfan temps had the GPU at 98c.

What seems to be the problem? Had vacuumed out the fans but there is still plenty of dust on components.

This is thermal throttling and driver crashes. What you need to do is not use a vacuum cleaner, but a compressor on a fairly low setting and blow out the fans. Make sure you hold them down when you, hehe, blow, so that you don't ruin the bearings.

And don't use a vacuum cleaner again, these charge the case with static!

Blow the case out - especially fans, filters and coolers.

Undo any overclocks.

Increase fan rpm.

Your cpu should be 35C max at idle and 50C max gaming.

If you can't get there, then re-seat your pcu cooler. If that doesn't work then get a better cooler.

GPU or CPU? I dont see CPU listed in the SpeedFan results, only core temps.

The GPU. Take off the cover and clean out the fins. With the side panel off you have blown uncounted amounts off dust into the GPU fan which will have flogged up the cooling fins. Tear it apart and use a toothpick or q-tip and either compressed air bottle or fine brush like artists paint brush to clean away the debris. Put it back together, clean out the rest of the case and put the side panel back on, or you'll be doing this cleaning weekly.

Considering the temperatures, the fan regulation component should have been a lot more aggressive. What you should try and do is install your motherboard's dedicated software and override automatic fan settings, set them to 100 when playing games, set to auto when not.

These appear to be some serious cooling problems, you may need to remove the heatsink and reapply the paste.

Its a dell straight from the factory. Everything came installed, no software included I believe.
