Hello there guys! I will be building a Gaming PC for Minecraft and some other games... I WILL be recording gameplay and uploading to YouTube. I will be doing my own thumbnails for videos and will edit them all myself. I plan to use shadowplay to record. Also, I want to be able to render videos FAIRLY fast. I also want to be able to run a 64x64 texturepack and use shaders mod while recording at a good amount of FPS (At least 100 FPS). I want to be able to stream on Twitch. So what all this comes down to is, Do I need to spend the extra money to buy parts that I can OC.

Thanks,

Luke

Perhaps by a little bit. Render times are mostly going to be aided by how much RAM your have and what its frequency is more than anything else.
In theory overclocking will also help streaming, since the faster it can complete a certain task, the faster it can get on with sending over data for the stream. The i5 is such a strong single-thread chip though that it's unlikely to change that by much at all.

Do you have an aftermarket cooler? Is your processor the k version?
(Non-k versions are locked and cannot be overclocked).

Without an aftermarket cooler it's strongly advised that...

Oh also, I am having a hard time finding a good motherboard that does not support OC'ing but still has what I want.

Here is what I want:

MSI, GIGABYTE OR INTEL.

SLI support

4 RAM slots

32 GB or more RAM supported

USB 3.0 header

At least 4 USB ports on the back

Extra fan port

Thats pretty much what I would like in the motherboard... Could you help me please? All I could find that matches those specs is a z97...

Thanks!

UPDATE: I would like 5.1 or 7.1 sound too!

SECOND UPDATE: ASrock is okay too!

Without an aftermarket cooler it's strongly advised that you don't overclock on the stock one. How high of an overclock you can achieve depends entirely on the quality of your board and the size/heat dispelling capabilities of your cooler.
It also depends on how lucky you get with your chip. Not all CPUs are created equal.

For those tasks, pretty much every modern CPU will be able to do what you need without an OC.
With that said, if the conditions are met, overclocking rarely doesn't help.

Edit: Oh and about your post above, most boards will have 7 or 8 channel audio built in. It's usually adequate but you can always buy a soundcard for better audio quality if needed.

Well, I just learned for the money I would be saving for not OC'ING is like maybe $20 and I can't find a NON-OC'ING Motherboard that has what I want in it, So I think I will just stick to what I got. Thanks SO much for the help!
