Has an overclock been done?

What is your CCC version?

You may have a faulty card as this is one of the most common issues with faulty R9 290's.

I believe it was 14.4 everything is stock clock speed. I was granted rma by newegg and it's on its way back now. I reinstalled my old hd5770 for the time being. I am debating getting a different mobo with a more recent bios?! Would a asus sabertooth 990fx work with the 290? Thank you for your time.

I think the MB is fine. It sounds like you may have not fully removed old video drivers. Guess we will find out when you get the new card.

I guessed that too at one point. I'll hold off on the mobo. And post back when. I get the card.

i finally had a chance to game on the reinstalled 5770 and am experiencing degraded performance from what im used to out of my 5770. CoH2 is unplayable at 12 fps. ive got 300+ hrs in this game lol it never ran like that. after i uninstalled the r9 i formated and aclean install of win 7 and grafix drivers was put on. everything appears normal, the ram and hard drive is recognized by win. the 5770 installed no problem. the only game i have installed is coh2. it runs stable but in game my framerate nosedives when i leave the menu and my load time is really bad. im really not quite sure where to look as everything appears to be in working order...my guess brings me back to my mobo. if the pcie slot somehow was damaged would the 5770 work at all? or if the ram was bad would it work?

I appreciate the help.

if it were damaged badly, you would be able to tell. That motherboard should most defiantly work with that card. Let us know on the next result.
