is a 600w psu enough to power this system?

the 7850 req 2x 6-pin pcie connectors. So, you'll need a psu with 4x 6-pin or 6+2-pin pcie connectors. This is done deliberately to prevent ppl from doing as you describe and hooking 2x powerful draw cards to the 12v rail. Basically you need a higher quality psu with the right connectors. I'd suggest the XFX 650w TS, which is an excellent psu and will come with the connectors needed to correctly run your x-fire.

Hmm. That PSU is decent. It's up to you. I'd recommend getting either a 750 watt PSU or a quality 600w. You can probably cf with that PSU, but you'll be cutting it close and that isn't a quality PSU. Up to you whether you're willing to take that risk or not
