Hey guys,

Basically I have saved up enough money to purchase a 4k monitor. After doing some research I found the Asus PB287Q would be suitable.

I currently have 2 1080p monitors for coding, then only use one for gaming.

I will mostly use my monitor for programming. I like the idea of being able to see more code. I do play some graphic intense games such as Bioshock, Farcry 3, gta (when it's released), and crysis.

My only issue is my graphics card. I currently have a Sapphire 280x toxic. I know this card will not give enough FPS for games on high or ultra. But I could make do with medium settings until I can afford another GPU (maybe the GTX 800 series in SLI when it's released).

So to conclude, do you think it's worth purchasing this monitor now? Or wait until I can afford both monitor and GPU upgrade and get them at the same time?

Thanks in advance.

If you really mean it when you say you use your computer primarily for coding then a 4k display should be fine for coding and you can always fallback to 1080p for gaming until you can afford a 290X/780Ti... but even with one of those you may still need to dial graphics down a notch or two so you might want to wait for next-gen stuff for the GPU.
