I'm using a Samsung ATIV Book 8 NP870Z5E-X01PH
* Originally AMD Radeon HD 8870M
I stupidly changed it to anything in the device manager when I first updated to windows 8.1 in the hope of fixing the brightness issues.
* I CAN'T BRING IT BACK to 8870M because the option is not there anymore.
* when I right click in the desktop I cant see the option CONFIGURE SWITCHABLE GRAPHICS anymore. note: I had to reinstall Catalyst control center when i updated to 8.1 just noticed the switchable graphics is gone recently
* when I go to the device manager under desplay adapters and the properties of AMD Radeon HD 8800M i can read "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)" and there's a yellow exclamation point too.
* I tried looking for any updates with samsung but the best place to get ANY updates for samsung is with SW Update which isn't helping at all because everything is already updated.
* LASTLY, I'M NOT TECHIE AND I DON'T KNOW HOW TO UPDATE MY AMD DRIVERS OR WHAT A GPU IS. I am hopeless :'(

HEEEEELLLPPPP!
Thank you!

Solution
Install ur Intel HD drivers first.....download the latest versions from downloadcentre.intel.com
Then install the AMD drivers
This will add a switchable graphics menu on the catalyst control centre software
i too own a AMD 6650m....always worked for me
The laptop won't get damaged....worst case scenario ur drivers will get messed up
That can be repaired by booting into safe mode and uninstalling it
