so, I've been trying to backup my BIOS for the last 1 hour with no sucess, I have an M5a97 EVO R2.0 motherboard.
I tried to do it using a bootable usb (freedos) and ASUS's own bupdater.exe
USB boots, when I run bupdater I get the message: "The bios backup is not supported due to the security policy".
I disabled in BIOS UEFI security (set to: "Other OS option").
I tried Googling, I even tried messing about with "How to create bootable flash for “efi-shell”"..
and then booting directly to a non UEFI usb from BIOS..
No luck.
I need to backup because my M5a97 EVO R2.0 motherboard came with a BIOS version 2401, which I cannot find on the ASUS site and I'd like to save it in case the newer BIOS is messed up (v 2501).
ahh, things used to be much simpler..
thanks
