Hello, I have an HP desktop computer (model P6-2022) and I purchased a new graphics card to be able to run newer games with better settings and resolutions.
After installing the card, which does not require a 6-pin power cable (a Gainward GTX 750), it doesn't seem to work... I also had uninstalled the drivers to my older GT630 which I was able to install without a problem.
When I boot the computer, the HP logo from the BIOS is displayed on-screen, but that's pretty much as far as it goes, as the ESCAPE or F(x) keys do nothing :(

I can boot into windows by unplugging my card from the motherboard and using the onboard graphics, and I've tried to install the NVIDIA drivers for the GTX750 but it requires for the card to be in the computer... Now that's a bit problematic, isn't it?

Do you think I should update my BIOS or would resetting the CMOS do anything to help?
Also, if you have any suggestions for my problem please do share them.

Thanks in advance.

Hi

Provided you get the correct bios file and the mains supply is stable you should be ok
You need to double and triple check the bios matches your motherboard before proceeding

It may be that the motherboard PCI-e slot does not supply enough power for the graphics card

But one final thing to try first
Power down
Disconnect mains plug
Reset CMOS using jumper ( read up in user guide )
Refit gtx 750
And power up and see what happens

Hi

what is the PSU rating both total watts and 12Volt rail

It seems GTX 750 needs 55W and recommends the minimum PSU power as 300W
(assuming not a GTX 750 TI version)

The GT 630 uses from 25W to 65W depending on version (3)
so could be motherboard not supporting this much power or power supply too low powered.

You should check on HP website what graphics cards are supported and if BIOS updates affect this

First of all, thanks for replying so fast ( :D )
My Power Supply is indeed 300W, with a 12V Rating of 16A.
On the box for my GT630, it says its better with 20A but so does this card, and I haven't had any problems with my 630.
As for the compatibility of the mobo, I checked on HP's website but nowhere do they mention compatibilities/incompatibilities with cards :/

I am on BIOS version 7.14 and I saw on HP's website that the most recent version is ver. 7.16, fixing "freeze at POST".

Do you think I should take the risk of updating my mobo, considering that I have paid for extended warranty, so they could replace the board if it gets messed up (right?).*

Thanks in advance
