Hey,
My old monitor had gone hay wire and so I was looking for a new monitor under Rs 10000 (around $165). I have come down to two monitors both of which come under my budget :
Dell S2240L
AOC I2269
I need your help in deciding which one would be better for me. Also please suggest me if there is a better monitor.

Solution
The different types of IPS panel are not substantially different. Quality of the panel and other components are more important than the specific label given to the panel technology.

Flicker comes from PWM back lighting which essentially strobes the back light to dim it.
Benq has a "flicker free" technology to reduce this effect.
This Dell monitor does not use PWM back lighting and hence is truly flicker free.

The LG monitor has 5ms response time. The Dell is 6ms and the AOC is 5ms. Any response time under 8ms is fine for a 60Hz monitor. 5ms or 6ms is normal for an IPS panel. None of these figures are the input lag, which you would generally expect to be higher.

All of these monitors will have a standard sRGB color gamut...
Specifications of the two are similar.
Dell has HDMI while AOC has DVI.
AOC is an IPS monitor which typically have better colour.
Dell has better quality and support.
The Dell monitor looks better.

Try to find detailed reviews on each looking at image quality.

All of these monitors will have a standard sRGB color gamut (approximately 72% NTSC). This is true of any monitor outside of professional RGB monitors, and by far the best option unless using specific RGB gamut software and hardware.

Hey guys, I am really sorry for replying after so much time. Because of service issues, I went for the Dell and rejected AOC but to some extent, I am not happy. I came from an 18 inch so it does look big and all but the colours weren't that great or anything. They were good, I mean they were fine. It looks fantastic but the build quality is not so great. You press the screen around the border and it simply goes in. Not that it causes any trouble but still. The image sharpness and brightness is not the same throughout. The brightness is more in the bottom right corner and as for sharpness, it is fantastic at some places but at other places, it is simply not. There is a lot of aliasing. Even in the best resolution videos and movies. Anyone considering this should definitely try other monitors and compare them side by side. But then there is also one thing, we are talking about under 10k. Maybe I just set my expectations too high.
Anyway, thanks a lot guys for the answers.
