How can an am3 cpu fit onto an am3+ motherboard

I read that an AM3 CPU can fit onto an AM3+ motherboard. I cant believe how,but ok.I have a couple of questions about this:
1.What is the real difference between those two sockets?
2. How do install the am3 cpu onto an am3+ mobo?
3. After i read this,i thought of buying an amd phenom II x6 1055t 95W(am3) and an ASUS M5A97 LE R 2.o(am3+) mobo. Can that mobo support the phenom II and can i overclock the phenom on that mobo?
All help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance :D

Solution
Technically the same
The pin count and positions are the same, so you just drop it and lock it to the slot
so:
1: you can use more powerful CPU-s in AM3+
2: same as an AM3 into an AM3 slot
3. The motherboard is referred as a big no-no for OC as far as I am aware. but wait for a mobo guy to confirm this

Are you going to buy the CPU second hand? Its frequency is pretty low with a locked multiplier and maybe the mobo is not the best choice for overclocking. I would say a quad core with a higher frequency would do a better job.
By the way GA-M52LT-D3 does not support 120W CPUS but M5A97 LE R 2.0 does.
The stock frequency of my Phenom II 955 is 3.2GHz and I think the performance at stock is insufficient for my Radeon HD7870. But it depends on the game.

I decided to buy a new mobo..With this M52LT-D3 mobo I wouldnt get as much performance as i would get in a PCIe 3.0 slot...,i asked SR-71 Blackbird,he told me that,i always trust him
