I am getting a CCL elite sparrowhawk gaming PC. It will be used for both university work but also gaming. The sort of games I plan on paying range from Dragon Age, Lord of the Rings online to Sims 3. I know nothing about computers at all and would be very grateful for any help I can get.

It has an onboard graphics card (AMD A10 7850K 3.7GHz CPU) but I can pay extra to have another one instead. The options are:

  • XFX AMD Radeon HD 5450 1GB Graphics Card
Sapphire AMD Radeon HD 5450 1GB Graphics Card
Sapphire AMD Radeon HD 6450 1GB Graphics Card
MSI AMD Radeon HD 6450 1GB Graphics Card
ASUS AMD Radeon HD 6450 1GB Graphics Card
ASUS NVIDIA GeForce GT 610 2GB Graphics Card
ASUS NVIDIA GeForce GT 620 1GB Graphics Card
    ASUS 1GB Graphics Card
XFX AMD Radeon R7 240 2GB Core Edition Graphics Card
Asus NVIDIA GeForce GT 630 2GB Graphics Card
Powercolor AMD Radeon R7 240 2GB Graphics Card
EVGA NVIDIA GeForce GT 630 1GB Graphics Card
Asus AMD Radeon HD 6670 2GB Graphics Card

Am I better off sticking with the onboard graphics card or should I select one of the others?

Also should I get a cooler or is it fine without one?

Thanks!

Isn't hybrid Crossfire better than the integrated graphics?

No, tom's hardware did an article on this a long time back and it showed that using a discrete GPU without hybrid crossfire actually had higher fps then hybrid crossfire.

Oh...

Easy, you could either go with a Core i5 or i3 for the instant performance, or get the Pentium G3258 and upgrade later.
