I have a computer without a dedicated sound card (ASUS M5A99FX mobo), and am looking for a new pair of gaming headphones... should I go with a usb connection or an analog one?
I think the M5A99FX has an integrated ALC892, which isn't bad by any stretch of the imagination. I don't think you'll be able to tell the difference between Analog and USB.
If you are able to fit a sound card internally, do that. Save your USB ports for stuff that can't be fitted internally.
I'm not worried about using up my ports, I have lots, and to buy a sound card along with a headset is more than I was looking to spend... I simply need to know which, analog or usb, would deliver better sound quality for a computer without an existing dedicated sound card.

Thank you very much for the info, and the excellent vid links.
