I'm looking for a solid Z97 ATX motherboard for my 4790k build. I am fairly well-versed in things like CPUs and graphics cards, but I do not know a lot about motherboards. I do not need fancy overclocking features or SLI or crossfire support. A motherboard with wifi is not needed. My budget is pretty flexible, but I do not want the motherboard to be under about $160, although that is not a clear boundary. I have a list of options, or you can select something reasonable not on this list:
ASRock Z97 Extreme4/Extreme6
ASRock Z97 Fatal1ty Z97(X) Killer
ASUS Z97-A
ASUS SABERTOOTH Z97
ASUS Z97-Pro
Gigabyte GA-Z97X UD3H/UD5H
Gigabyte GA-Z97X SOC
Gigabyte GA-Z97X Gaming 5/7
Gigabyte GA-G1.SNIPER Z97
MSI Z97 Gaming 5/7
MSI Z97 G45/65 Gaming

I think the major difference is the quality. Asus boards are known for their quality but no doubt the Rock is good bang for buck, also a good board with lot's of features

I would personally spend the extra on the Asus if you can
I think you mean that you DO(not do not) want the price to be <$160. :)

Unless there is a feature you need, they should all be equally good.
I think ASUS might have a leg up on overclocking a 4790K, but the chip runs as well as you need at 4.4 with using optimized defaults.

It seems like the ASUS Z97-A is the top pick. However, the ASRock Z97 Extreme4 also seems to be decent, and currently, it is $115.99 while the ASUS is $143.49. Is the ASUS worth the extra $27.50?
