My Current Build:

AMD Athlon X4 750K
9 Gigs of Ram
1 Nvidia GTS 250
MSI A78M-E45 motherboard.

I need to upgrade my graphics card as it is miles away from the rest of my PC. I just upgraded the MOBO and Processor from a crappy pre-built HP.

I was looking at the cheaper HD 6850 for this system. I am looking for cheaper, older cards that still benchmark well. My GTS benchmarks at a shoddy 900 right now.

My mobo does support crossfire. Is that worth it?

Why older cards ?, a 6850 is a modern equivalent of an R7 250X or 7770 which retails for about $100.

I would recommend an R7 260X or gtx 750 at that price range

What's your budget ?, and psu ?

Your spot on , the HD 6850 or even HD 7770 , is the level where you will see a good performance increase.

These are improvements on them, as well as being similar power rating to the GTS 250:

-GTX 650Ti
-GTX 560
-GTX 650Ti b00st
-GTX 660

Really, anything at the 6850's tier or better is good if you can get a good price (keep within your PSU's ability).
