Hi i have been gaming since the age of 6 (just turned 16) and have been loving every moment of it but im facing a bit of a problem now. I have officially used my Xbox so much that it barely even works anymore and i need a new console. I have been thinking about getting the Xbox one but i think the only reason for my choice is because of Halo and the amount of fun i have had on that game since i first played at 6 years old. The xbox one is quite expensive and i dont need any of its features that it provides like kinect or netflix and all the other non gaming features. I know that pc gaming is not cheap but it provides many features that are useful. I was just hoping you guys could help me make a call on if switching to pc gaming would be a good decision. If possible could anyone tell me a game that is anything like halo that is on the pc. One last thing is if you suggest pc gaming can you please tell me what components of a pc is most important for pc gaming cause i have never been a person who cares about the technology behind games and consoles i just play them :D  .

Thanks a lot
Ryan

A Xbox One would be cheaper. A computer is more versatile because you can use it for things other than gaming.

If you play multiplayer games, it's a lot easier and more common to encounter hackers or cheaters on PC than on console.

If your budget is the same, for either a console or a PC, get a console. And I hate consoles. A good gaming PC, built right, will cost you in the neighborhood of $700+ including monitor, OS and peripherials. And that is an entry level budget. Sure you can build PCs for sub $400. But if you want to game, spend the money.

Well, you can't do your homework or learn about how computers actually work on an Xbox.

Time spent on Xbox also basically has 0 transferable job skills.

Yeah, like Vrumor said, it will cost about $700+ (when taxes and shipping are added) to get a basic entry level COMPLETE computer gaming system, but this is what you'd be look at:
PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: AMD Athlon X4 750K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($79.99 @ Newegg)
Motherboard: ASRock FM2A78M-HD+ Micro ATX FM2+ Motherboard ($55.88 @ Newegg)
Memory: Team Elite 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1333 Memory ($72.98 @ OutletPC)
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($54.99 @ NCIX US)
Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB Video Card ($129.99 @ NCIX US)
Case: Fractal Design Core 1000 USB 3.0 MicroATX Mid Tower Case ($24.99 @ NCIX US)
Power Supply: Antec Basiq 350W ATX Power Supply ($29.98 @ OutletPC)
Optical Drive: Samsung SH-224DB/BEBE DVD/CD Writer ($19.99 @ Newegg)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 (OEM) (64-bit) ($84.99 @ NCIX US)
Monitor: Acer G226HQLBbd 60Hz 21.5" Monitor ($107.48 @ Newegg)
Keyboard: Cooler Master CM Storm Devastator Gaming Bundle Wired Gaming Keyboard w/Optical Mouse ($29.99 @ B&H)

And thats if you MUST buy everything brand new. You can get all kinds of good deals on EBAY for next to nothing, just have to do a little legwork searching and vetting.

Id definitely try my best to switch to PC gaming,if anything it will branch out.

Next thing you know, you'll be wanting to make your games even better looking. Then you learn to mod games and turn out amazing products, like the highly praised Watch_Dogs mods TheWorse did. And eventually you'll learn about overclocking and system management.

It's all a big learning experience wrapped up in pretty pixels instead of just pixels.

And also run the risk of getting damage hardware with no refund/return possibilities.

To make it boot up and run you'll need;

A motherboard,a Processor to go in it,an Operating system with a Harddrive to store it,1 Gig of RAM at least to run it(Win7),a Power Supply to power it, a Keyboard+mouse to control it and a Monitor to view it.

EDIT: You'll need an optical drive to install your OS unless you get a digital copy

And a digital copy of an OS needs to be put on a thumbstick.

What Crispy said is the BARE MINIMUM to have a computer that turns on though, it won't play any games besides Solitaire.

But here's a Breakdown list, you're right about the parts being converted over to Indian prices will be more dificult:

Two Options AMD or Intel, AMD is cheaper, Intel performs better all around for a higher price.

AMD:Minimum or Recommended
CPU: AMD Athlon X4 or AMD A10
MOBO: FM2 socket type
RAM: 4 GBS DDR3 @1333 or 8 GBs DDR3 @1600
GPU: AMD R7 260X or Nvidia GTX 750ti
PSU: 350Watts or above (Caution, low quality PSUs can kill your entire system if they break, check out this tier list to find good quality PSUs: http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-1804779/power-su...)
HDD: 1TB @ 7200 RPM
OS: Windows 7 or 8/8.1

If you are from India then PC gaming is cheaper than console gaming

Watch Dogs:
Cost on PC: Rs. 1600
Cost on PS4: Rs. 3499
Cost on X1: Rs. 3499

Think about how many games you will buy in 5 years and then calculate which is cheaper PC or console

You certainly should. I have been pc gaming forever and love it. Having a good pc also helps you do so much more besides gaming and watching movies. And hey while you're at it check this out https://www.g2a.com/r/llb03 . Even if you don't start pc gaming, there is stuff for everyone on this site including $38.92 for a year of Xbox live, watchdogs for $26.84, sniper elite 3 for $20.61, and if you do decide to get your computer and go the diy route then buy windows 8.1 for $21.87. Take a look, you might like what you find.
