Asus sabertooth versus crosshair formula

Hey just wanted to ask a question about asus sabertooth mobo and asus crosshairs formula. I own a budget mobo atm that I can't overclock as high as I would like too so I keep it on stock settings until I upgrade and I will get a better mobo in near future probably in September for my birthday. Now I have a FX8350 cpu, AMD R9 290 GPU, 16GB Vulcan gaming ram, EVGA 750 watt G2 Supernova gold rated PSU, 2 western digital hard drives, Rosewill Blackbone ATX Mid tower, Coolermaster EVO 212 120mm cpu cooler/fan, and mobo is a Gigabyte GA-78LMT USB3 (so given the motherboard I have you can easily see why I do not overclock).

Now given what I have which of the 2 asus motherboards above would you feel is best for me. Just want to add that price is not a concern but would like to know what others think between those 2 motherboards and if sabertooth is good enough for what I have or should just go with more expensive crosshair formula? I do have my mind set on either one but if anyone feels there's a better motherboard in those prices please feel free to make another suggestion as long as it fits in my case and is great for gaming and my setup thanks.

on overclock.net someone has the 8320 or 8350 and 78lmt-usb3 and got his board to 4.4 or 4.5 very stable. But he can't get 4.6 stable. I think he has a small liquid cooler. The 212 evo might be your problem for the overclock. you also need to aim fans to cool off the vrm heatsink and northbridge.

That's exactly the problem with my board I can keep everything cool and under what safe temps are with my cooler master EVO 212 cooler and rest of my fans but the north bridge (TMPIN 2) tends to run hotter and it's only if I raise the volts on the core or if I have my monster of a card AMD R9 290 installed which i think due to mid tower and limited space combined with motherboard design the north bridge then does not get enough air flow?

I noticed now if I use my AMD 7870 HD Card it stays cool even with slight over clock and slightly higher volts but if I have my monster of a card AMD R9 290 installed the north bridge temps would run hot at around 50 to 55 on idle and 60 to 71 while gaming. Oh and btw I own both fx8320 and fx8350 but only using fx8350 atm. Either way birthday is around the corner and I just want to future proof my pc some and have a motherboard that can OC if need be safely and easily while also having room for expansion. I will be buying the asus crosshair z formula but now deciding whether Mid tower I have is ok or if I should buy a full tower?

I have the 78lmt-usb3 board. I did a few hours of testing the sensors. There is no software temp reading for northbridge or vrm. It sucks but we have to live with it.

TMPIN2 is actually the AMD cpu package plus 15c offset. It's a constant value added to the core temp. It's so at idle the temps look normal. During load this temp is no good. You need to look at core/package temp.

TPMIN1 is possibly socket/cpu related/unknown, maybe error reading we aren't supposed to see.

TPMIN0 is thermistor sensor on left bottom corner of mother board.

From what I know and read TMPIN 0,1,2 is different for everyone but I know its normally ambient, socket, and north bridge and for my pc it seems to be the case due to other temps I see like cpu, GPU, hard drives and etc.

No matter what it has to a bridge for sure, because if I run the r9 290 it covers one of the bridges on the motherboard and I notice the hotter temps while if I use the shorter 7870 card it does not and the TMPIN2 goes from 50 to 55 at idle with R9 290 to idle around 33 with the 7870 card so unless my theory is wrong which I could be either way the R9 290 card itself causes the TMIN2 to rise. Now is it for reasons other then it covering a bridge I am not sure but could be. Also would like to add Only other time the TMPIN 2 runs that hot is if I rise the volts to to 1.4 or higher.

Either way why are we discussing this lol this thread is about the Asus boards and which one I should get but I still appreciate you trying to save me money. Now how helping me decide on staying with my mid tower or going full tower. What do you think for the Asus crosshair formula z?

Every 78lmt-usb3 rev5.0 will have the same temp sensors I posted. There is no northbridge software accessed temp sensor.

Yes anyways, to your questions.

What's the difference between the sabertooth and crosshairs board? What do reviews say on newegg and other sites? Pick the features you want or the best reviewed one. ( also you can send me the extra money you have and I'll buy both, test them both for you and let you know which one I like. haha. )

Hopefully someone can give you some advice about the tower case.
I think it's more of a preference. Just as long as everything fits and the air flow setup is good. Do you like the size of your mid tower or do you want more space/ bigger or maybe smaller? I think that's really all there is to it.

Personally, I like my mini tower with the micro atx board. It's easier to move around.

Damn I should I have built a mini-itx system now that I'm looking at things online. Thanks man!! Uhh
